Pinkball
Pinkball started in 2008 by Boca Raton Regional Hospital employee, Michelle
Stallone, who wanted to make a difference in the lives of women who were
due for testing, but finding far too many were foregoing their care because
they simply could not afford the expense. She started Pinkball as an organization
founded by "baseball moms" who were moved to create a fund for
women in the community who are uninsured or under insured, and who may
not qualify for other types of grants/funds.
This fund helps women throughout South Florida receive mammograms, breast
ultrasounds, breast MRI’s, and breast biopsies. Since the inception
of Pinkball, the event has grown and has raised nearly $800,000 over the
past 11 years, all of which has been used to serve over 650 women in need.
Even more impressive are the 36 women that were diagnosed with breast
cancer through Pink Ball resources who are all now living healthy lives.
