ANGIOGRAM
Length: 2 hours
For this procedure the doctor will use a small needle to access an artery
in your groin. The skin will be sterilized and numbed. You will have an
IV placed for sedation during this procedure. Once the physician has access
into the artery he will insert a catheter through the needle into the
arteries that are to be looked at. A dye is injected while pictures are
taken. This is how we see what your arteries look like.
Preps: You will need to be fasting for this procedure and have someone
available to drive you home after.

This procedure involves placing a small flexible catheter for IV access.
The neck or chest area will be sterilized and numbed. A small flexible
catheter is threaded into a vein in your neck using ultrasound guidance.
The catheter is then advanced into a larger vein in your chest; this catheter
may stay in for several weeks for long-term therapy.

Length: 2 hours
This is a procedure in which anticancer drugs are administered directly
through a catheter placed in the blood vessels feeding the tumor, with
concurrent or subsequent blockage of the feeding vessel by occlusive agents
that are injected through the delivery catheter. This permits a higher
concentration of drug to be in contact with the tumor for a longer period of time.

specimen of tissue from a specified organ or tumor. The area of interest
will be sterilized and numbed. The physician will use a small needle to
obtain the tissue sample. The tissue samples will be sent to pathology
for analysis. The results of the biopsy will be sent to the physician
ordering the exam.

Length: 1 hour
This procedure involves placing a device called a filter into the inferior
vena cava to trap any blood clots. The filter can be placed in the IVC
by one of two ways. The first way involves making a puncture in the groin
and accessing the femoral vein. Once the vein is accessed, the filter
is placed in the IVC. The other way is to access the jugular vein in the
neck and place a catheter down to the IVC to place the filter.

fluid for your spinal canal. The area will be sterilized and numbed. The
physician will insert a small needle into your lower back using X-ray
to guide them. Once they have accessed the spinal column they will allow
the fluid to drain. After the procedure is complete you will need to stay
flat in bed for four hours and drink plenty of fluid to help your body

NEPHROSTOMY TUBE PLACEMENT
Length: 1 hour
This procedure involves placing a flexible catheter into your kidney.
The nephrostomy tube is mainly used to decompress and temporarily drain
an obstructed collecting system (usually in the renal system - the part
of the urinary tract that drains urine from the kidney to the bladder
- when there is a urinary obstruction). The area will be sterilized and
numbed prior to the procedure. An IV will be started prior to the procedure
for sedation and antibiotic.

PARACENTESIS
Length: Varies depending on how much fluid will need to be drained
This is a procedure to drain fluid from the abdomen for either diagnostic
or therapeutic purposes. The radiologist or Nurse Practitioner will first
look with an ultrasound machine to find the biggest pocket of fluid. Then
the skin will be sterilized and anesthetize. A small needle will be used
to access the pocket of fluid leaving a flexible catheter to drain the
fluid. Once the fluid is completed draining the catheter will be removed.
