Organization Makes $1 Million Gift Toward Keeping the Promise Campaign
BOCA RATON, FL – June 16, 2020 – SBA Communications Corporation is partnering with Boca Raton Regional
Hospital in support of a healthier workforce for their organization with
new wellness initiatives.
The wellness initiative gained momentum recently at a meeting featuring
corporate leaders on a Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation volunteer
committee. The purpose of the get-together was to help engage the local
business community and to formally introduce Lincoln Mendez, Boca Raton
Regional Hospital’s CEO. During the meeting there was wide-ranging
discussion about the history and future of the Boca Raton Regional Hospital,
what it has meant to the business community, what the business community
needs from the Hospital and the differences between individual philanthropy
and corporate philanthropy.
“We were in the midst at the time of reviewing and improving our
employee benefits in the areas of health and wellness, and it just made
sense for the hospital to help evaluate and possibly provide some of the
services we needed,” said Jeff Stoops, CEO of SBA. “Local
businesses have great needs for creating a healthier workforce and Boca
Regional has the resources to help. Engaging with corporate leadership
at the local level, while creating a greater awareness of the Hospital’s
services and how it is well-positioned to meet their needs has been a
rewarding strategy for those involved. When I earlier sought to find a
good wellness partner for SBA, I had no idea that such a strong and valuable
partnership would develop as quickly as it has but of course it is times
like these where great relationships are made and really matter.”
Recently, SBA rolled out the new Corporate Wellness Program with its exclusive
Corporate Wellness Partner, Boca Raton Regional Hospital. The arrangement,
the first of this kind between the hospital and a large local company,
encompasses a variety of services, including on-site and off-site doctor’s
appointments, blood pressure checks and blood screenings, mobile mammograms,
yoga, meditation and mental health services, nutrition, lectures and other
services many of which are available to SBA’s entire 1500-person
workforce by video.
“We were eager to get involved,” said Mendez. “Three
months of intense work ensued between teams from SBA and our team from
the Hospital, clinically spearheaded by Dr. Samer Fahmy and Dr. Gwenesia
Collins. We couldn’t be happier with the result.” Now, because
of the Covid-19 crisis, SBA is extremely grateful to have partnered with
Boca Raton Regional Hospital for resources that were unimaginable just
a few months ago.
SBA additionally made a gift of $1 million to support
Keeping the Promise…The Campaign for Boca Raton Regional Hospital, to support the current and future needs of the hospital so it can continue
to deliver quality healthcare to the community. There are plans for a
new patient tower that will feature an expansion of surgical suites, an
inviting patient lobby and all private patient rooms. The plan also includes
a medical pavilion for outpatient services, additional parking, the complete
renovation of the current hospital building including all private rooms
and other services. These investments are the initial steps toward an
even broader vision for the campus over the next decade with greater access
points and even more specialties.
