Patients will learn how to capture their life stories
A cancer diagnosis can serve as a catalyst for patients to share a lifetime
of memories with their loved ones, and one powerful way is to capture
those precious moments on video. The Eugene M. & Christine E. Lynn
Cancer Institute at Boca Raton Regional Hospital is hosting a free workshop
on how to create a legacy video, offered through the Institute’s
CINDY Bertuch Rosencrans Life Expressions Program (CINDY Program).
“It’s not just about the here and now,” says Elsa Raynor,
a licensed clinical social worker at the Institute. “More and more
people are looking for ways to tell their story, and the ‘Reel Reflections’
workshop is an opportunity for patients to encapsulate the narrative of
their treasured memories for current and future generations to enjoy.”
The workshop will be taught by Forever Studios, a Boca Raton-based studio
that specializes in preserving life’s most important memories with
video, photography, books and other personal creative projects. Since
legacy preservation can be a daunting task, Forever Studios will show
people how to present their own life stories in video or book form. During
the workshop, participants will learn helpful tips and strategies for
capturing and sharing his or her story, or the story of a loved one. The
goal is to have each person leave the program with the knowledge and confidence
to take the first step in ensuring his or her legacy is preserved for
both present and future generations.
Founded at the Institute in 2010, the CINDY Program provides emotional,
personal, education and logistical support for a patient and their family
at all phases of diagnosis and treatment, with an emphasis on supporting
the end-of-life process.
The workshop will take place on Friday, February 6, from 1:00pm to 2:30pm,
in the Lynn Cancer Institute at the Harvey & Phyllis Sandler Pavilion.
The Institute is located at 701 NW 13th Street, Boca Raton, Florida, 33486.
