BOCA RATON, FL – February 20, 2018 – Darci McNally, MSW, LCSW, OSW-C, Director of Oncology Support Services
and Community Outreach at Boca Raton Regional Hospital’s Eugene
M. & Christine E. Lynn Cancer Institute, has received the Lane W.
Adams Quality of Life Award from the American Cancer Society.
The national honor recognizes individuals who exhibit excellence and compassion
in providing care to cancer patients and their families. Ms. McNally was
recognized and rewarded for her leadership in providing care and support
to patients at the Lynn Cancer Institute through support groups and one-on-one therapy.
Since 1988, this award represents the concept of the “warm hand of
service,” which is an integral part of the American Cancer Society’s
commitment to excellence in cancer care and specifically emphasized by
Lane W. Adams when he served as executive Vice President of the American
Cancer Society. Adams’ definition of the warm hand of service was
to “serve others and enrich the purpose of one’s existence.”
In addition to her direct clinical interactions with patients and loved
ones, Ms. McNally has spearheaded the creation of a number of signature
events and programs designed to address the myriad needs of those battling
cancer. Most notably, she developed the League of Ribbons at the Institute,
which offers a host of different initiatives such as providing gift cards
for groceries and gas, health and wellness programs for patients and the
community –at –large and guided imagery, yoga, and massage
therapy for patients in treatment. Concurrently, she developed the Run
for the Ribbons, a highly successful 5K and one-mile Run/Walk that helps
to fund the League’s offerings.
“We are most proud of Darci’s noteworthy recognition,”
said Louise Morrell, MD, Medical Director of the Lynn Cancer Institute.
“This honor is exemplary of her dedication to patients and their
families. The innovative programming and depth of resources she provides
to those in need have truly distinguished our program in the region.”
Ms. McNally is a board-certified master’s level Clinical Social Worker
at the Lynn Cancer Institute. She is a member of the Association of Oncology
Social Workers and the Florida Society of Oncology Social Workers. Ms.
McNally completed the Advanced Psychosocial Oncology training at Memorial
Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York and has received a specialty
