Partnership with West Palm Beach Veterans Administration Medical Center
enhances the well-being and care of veterans and their families
BOCA RATON, FL – November 9, 2018 – The Marcus Neuroscience Institute (MNI) at Boca Raton Regional Hospital
(BRRH) has partnered with the West Palm Beach Veterans Administration
Medical Center (VAMC) to establish a Neurology and Neurosurgery alliance
in accordance with the Veterans’ Affairs (VA) Mission Act of 2018.
The partnership guarantees local veterans have access to high-quality
and cost-effective neurological care.
“The Institute is honored to have been selected as a partner with
the VA and help ensure the veterans of our community receive the care
they deserve,” said Frank Vrionis, MD, PhD, Director of MNI. “It
is fitting that we announce this relationship around Veterans Day. It
reflects both our commitment to care for those who served and the VA's
confidence in us to provide care in a highly effective and efficient manner.”
The collaboration will open lines of communication to better track patient
progress and outcomes. A joint committee with representatives from both
BRRH and VAMC will be formed to accurately measure the impact of this
relationship. Metrics will be reviewed on a quarterly basis by the number
of veterans served, timeliness for initial consultation to procedure,
complication rate, 30-day readmission rate and patient satisfaction.

The VA Mission Act is designed to improve the VA's ability to utilize
high-quality health care professionals, streamline VA community care programs,
expand caregiver benefits to pre-9/11 veterans and create a process to
examine VA's capital infrastructure to better serve veterans. The
Act was signed into law by President Trump in June 2018.
About the Marcus Neuroscience Institute
The Marcus Neuroscience Institute at Boca Raton Regional Hospital is an
innovative nexus for neurologic and neurosurgical care. The 57,000-square-foot
facility houses a 20-bed Neuro Intensive Care and Step-Down Unit, four
dedicated operating rooms — including one equipped with intraoperative
MRI and two with intraoperative CT capability — and a biplane angiography
suite, a crucial component in the diagnosis and care of neurological conditions.
