Marcus Neuroscience Institute Appoints Chief Of Neurology

BOCA RATON, FL – May 30, 2017 – Patricio Espinosa, MD, MPH, has been appointed Chief of Neurology at Boca Raton Regional Hospital’s Marcus Neuroscience Institute (MNI). Dr. Espinosa joined the medical staff at the Institute in December 2014 and served as Director of Neurology since December 2015.

In his new duties, Dr. Espinosa will lead the program’s growing team of neurologists and provide support to the Institute’s clinical and research efforts. He offers specialized expertise in adult neurology, epilepsy and sleep disorders.

Dr. Espinosa attended medical school at Universidad Central del Ecuador and performed his Internal Medicine and Neurology residencies at the University of Kentucky. He received his Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and performed an epilepsy and sleep disorders fellowship at Harvard Medical School.

His research has appeared in more than 25 prestigious, peer-reviewed publications as the Journal of Neurology, Journal of Clinical Neurology and Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease. In addition, he is a co-author of one textbook and author of six book chapters related to his specialties.

Dr. Espinosa is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, American Epilepsy Society, American Clinical Neurophysiology Society and American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Prior to joining Boca Regional, Dr. Espinosa was Stroke and Epilepsy Director of the Neurology Division at North Oaks Neuroscience Institute in Louisiana.

Dr. Espinosa was recently honored as a Physician Hero by the Palm Beach County Medical Society at the 2017 Heroes in Medicine awards ceremony. This recognition was given on behalf of his commitment to providing exemplary healthcare services and support to those in need.
