BOCA RATON, FL – February 8, 2017 – Boca Raton Regional Hospital today announced the appointment of Cristina
Mata, MD, MBA, CPE, as its new Vice President and Chief Medical Officer.
Dr. Mata assumed her duties on February 6, 2017.
Dr. Mata completed her Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts and Doctor
of Medicine degrees at the University of Miami. She performed her internal
medicine internship and residency, as well as a fellowship in endocrinology
at the University of Miami.
Following her clinical training, Dr. Mata earned a Master of Business
Administration degree with a specialization in Health Administration from
the University of Miami. She is a Certified Physician Executive having
completed training with the American Association for Physician Leadership.
Dr. Mata is an endocrinologist who practiced clinically for 15 years.
For more than two decades, she has held various physician leadership positions
at many local institutions; most recently she was Chief Medical Officer,
Medical Director of Informatics and Interim Medical Director of Graduate
Medical Education at Palmetto General Hospital.
Dr. Mata also held various roles at Jackson Memorial Hospital. There she
served as Chief Medical Officer – Ambulatory Division, Medical Director
– Occupational Health Services, Associate Chief Medical Officer
and Interim Chief Utilization Officer.
She was also Chief Medical Officer, Project Sponsor for a large integrated
physician group EMR implementation and Associate Medical Director at Holy
Cross Medical Group.
At Holy Cross Hospital, Dr. Mata was Director of Women's Health and
Metabolic Services.
Dr. Mata is board-certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine
and the American Board of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism. She
is also affiliated with the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists.
