Boca Regional Chief Nursing Officer Honored with Board Positions

Melissa Durbin, RN, MSN, NEA, Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer at Boca Raton Regional Hospital has been elected to the board of two significant nursing organizations in Florida. Ms. Durbin is now President of the South Florida Organization of Nurse Executives (SFONE) and Secretary of the Nursing Consortium of South Florida.

As SFONE President, Ms. Durbin will work to support nursing leaders in South Florida through advocacy, education and leadership development. The organization serves Broward/Dade and Palm Beach Counties in Region I. She will serve as SFONE’s official representative and will preside at all meetings.

Serving as Secretary of the Nursing Consortium of South Florida, Ms. Durbin will work with the board of directors to actively identify and address opportunities for strengthening the nursing community and to ensure adequate access to high quality nursing services. The Consortium's mission is to strengthen relationships between nurses (in practice and academic settings), and also promote and facilitate collaboration among member and other organizations.

A seasoned professional with nearly thirty years in nursing practice and leadership, Ms. Durbin is responsible for all nursing and other patient care functions and services within Boca Regional. She manages the assessment, planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of nursing practices on a facility level, and is accountable for ensuring high quality, safe and appropriate nursing care, competency of clinical staff and effective resource management.

Ms. Durbin received her Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Nursing with an emphasis in Nursing Leadership from Florida Atlantic University.
