Boca Raton Regional Hospital Receives Top Healthgrades Designation in Maternity Care

Boca Raton Regional Hospital today announced that its Toppel Family Place has received the 2014 Maternity Care Excellence Award™ from Healthgrades®, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals. The distinction places Boca Regional in the top 10 percent of all hospitals evaluated for exceptional care provided to mothers during and after childbirth and to their newborns. This is the fourth consecutive year that Toppel Family Place has been so honored.

To help consumers evaluate and compare hospital performance in maternity care, Healthgrades analyzed patient outcome data for hospitals in 17 states that provided all-payor data for the years 2010-2012. Healthgrades’ study found that variation in hospital performance can make a material difference in terms of clinical outcomes. Its report highlights that mothers treated at hospitals earning the Maternity Care Excellence Award (five stars) had 54.3 percent fewer complications during a vaginal delivery and 77.5 percent fewer if undergoing a C-section as compared to patients undergoing similar procedures at one-star rated facilities.

“Our maternity services continue to garner both local and national accolades for the quality of care we provide to mothers and their babies,” said Jerry Fedele, President and CEO of Boca Raton Regional Hospital. “We are most proud of our physicians, nurses and support staff at Toppel Family Place whose efforts and dedication have earned us such significant recognition.”
